Various communications of laryngeal nerves with literature review

Abstract
The vagus nerve gives rise to the superior laryngeal nerve (SLN) and recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) in the neck. Despite progress in the development of new techniques of head and neck surgeries, laryngeal muscles are often paralyzed postoperatively due to iatrogenic injury to the laryngeal nerves. Therefore, the understanding of the complexity and variability of the anatomy of larynx is important to reduce the risk of nerve injury. And a thorough understanding of the complex anastomoses between the laryngeal nerves is crucial in patients with laryngeal muscle paralysis. In these reasons, we review the anatomic anastomosis of laryngeal nerve connections and their functions with literature review.
